Friday night, June 28th from 8 to 10 PM there will be two special pop-up events open to the public. The Invertebrate team will be setting up sheets illuminated by special lights that are expected to attract thousands of moths and other night-flying insects. The Mammal team will demonstrate acoustic monitoring of bats where the softward can identify bats to the species level through the sounds they make that we can't hear.
Saturday, June 29th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm the public is invited to the BioBlitz site to meet the scientists and amateur naturalists, see what they have collected, and learn how they do field work.
On Saturday we will have theater and music performances, arts and crafts workshops, and forays to collect mushrooms, see birds, and identify plants and insects. These will be fun for the whole family.
Here's the current schedule but check back on Facebook and Instagram for last minute changes.
Keep tabs on the BioBlitz Facebook page for information on 2024 BioBlitz programs, workshops and walks. They will be listed here as we finalize the schedule.
